It was aliens, not stars or spacecraft, that drew Tegan into science fiction when she was young; aliens, and the idea of radical difference. Fantasy worlds, too, fascinated for the same reasons. She finds her own aliens now closer to home: in the emotional lives of animals, in humans who might not be entirely human, in the monsters we make out of our own frustrations and fears.
Tegan is a graduate of Clarion West and currently works as Clarion West’s One-Day Workshop coordinator. She’s been published in Asimov’s Science Fiction, Tor.com, Beneath Ceaseless Skies (forthcoming) and Strange Horizons. She is a professional dog trainer, is allergic to chocolate and only has eight toenails.
